Auxilliary Generator Overhaul-CAT 3408 (Marine vessel)

This project involved the complete overhaul of the auxiliary generator aboard a marine vessel, carried out while the vessel was docked. The work was undertaken to address reduced engine performance and mechanical wear identified during routine inspection and operation. The overhaul was executed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices, and included full engine strip-down to the engine block, detailed inspection of all major components, replacement and servicing of worn parts, precise reassembly, and comprehensive testing to confirm proper operation and performance before return to service.

Scope of Work Included

  • Complete strip-down of marine propulsion engine to engine block level
  • Detailed inspection of engine block, crankcase, and major components
  • Cleaning, preparation, and inspection of all reusable components
  • Installation of cylinder liner sealing O-rings
  • Installation and alignment of camshaft and valve train components
  • Installation of rear oil seal and oil pan assembly
  • Installation of lifters, rocker arms, and associated components
  • Top gasket installation and surface preparation
  • Cylinder head installation and tightening/locking to specification
  • Reassembly of engine components in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Final inspection and verification of completed engine assembly
